The course focuses on interpersonal and people management skills, to enable students to develop the research, analytical and management skills that are crucial to employment in a variety of Human Resource practice areas.

You will learn the methodologies to transcend the scope of Human Resource Management and become Strategic Business Partners. It is designed to provide you with the tools, skills, and hands-on experience needed to support business operations and internal and external stakeholders.

Program Overview

Our new Human Resource Management Certificate (HRMC) is a 10-week program (80 hours) that fits your goals and your schedule. It encompasses an in-person, online and hybrid learning environment besides workshops and seminars. Apply to this program anytime and with rolling admissions, you have the flexibility to balance your work and family commitment with your academic needs. You will learn alongside like-minded peers and expand your network. The program will feature industry experienced facilitator (s) who bring practical expertise to every class and industry professionals sharing their real-world experiences.

It helps participants who would like to make a career in Human Resources, or who like to work towards higher management degrees or other certifications. In terms of career outlook, this program addresses the increasing demand for skilled Human Resource professionals in Ontario and across Canada.

Course Overview

  • HRM101: Overview of Human Resource Management:  Students will gain knowledge of the broad functions involved in Human Resources Management, talent management, health and safety, importance of diversity and equity, respectful workplace, gain an understanding of social media in the context of Human Resources and how Human Resource supports business objectives. The course includes understanding the concepts of employee lifecycle model and outlines an employee’s journey at an organization including recruitment, talent management, and separation.
  • CSM101: Client Service Model:  Students will gain knowledge of the broad functions involved in Human Resources Management, talent management, health and safety, importance of diversity and equity, respectful workplace, gain an understanding of social media in the context of Human Resources and how Human Resource supports business objectives. The course includes understanding the concepts of employee lifecycle model and outlines an employee’s journey at an organization including recruitment, talent management, and separation.Students would be introduced to a difference between internal and external client service models, understand the dynamics serving internal departments and internal feedback mechanisms. You will learn how to work collaboratively with internal managers and employees, how to understand their points of view and provide services as per corporate ethics and policies. This course will especially focus on those Human Resource capabilities which are linked to external and internal client satisfaction for organizational effectiveness. 
  • HRT101: Human Resource Tools and Technology: This course aims to provide students with the concepts of different tools and technologies used in Human Resources. Students would also be introduced to concepts associated with attendance, payroll, and benefit administration through the latest legislation, trends, and evidence-based practice. It will help you learn new trends in technology and analytical tools, and how to work in an increasing globalized world by lowering labour related costs, increasing employee morale and being more responsiveness to client needs. 
  • EPM101: Employee Performance Management: You will learn various aspects of a performance management system and how they are linked to compensation and reward management. This course will examine the various expectations of managers and executives and how to resolve employee related performance challenges using effective training, feedback and coaching methods. You will learn about measuring and developing individual and team performance, aligning performance with organizational goals and creating and implementing a performance management system that helps employees perform at their best.
  • DGT101: Employee Discipline, Grievances and Termination: Organizations spend a lot of time and energy on discipline management, grievances and termination linked processes, especially in a unionized environment. You will learn the basics of disciplinary processes, including fact finding, investigations, administering just and fair discipline, grievance management and study applicable case laws and aspects of legal interventions.  This course will examine proactive individual and group grievance management and how to minimize grievance related costs.

In today’s fast changing world, it is not only necessary to attain the skills and knowledge but also develop an understanding of the job market. Students will learn what an organisation and the hiring panel is looking for, how to differentiate yourself from other candidates, and lays a special emphasis on foreign credentials, its prospects and how to overcome the challenges in a competitive job market.

In addition, students would participate in free workshops and seminars geared towards assisting the students with job related placements through resume preparation, mock interviews and interaction with industry professionals etc.
